Tara, daughter of Donald and
Nancy Toms, of Mifflintown, said
that her winning young 3-year-old
was scored 87-points last Decem
ber, but it is to be scored again
soon.
According to Kocher, the
3-year-old had been dry up to six
days prior to Tuesday’s show, but
had won all the dry cow classes in
which Tara entered the cow this
past show seasoi\.
The reserve intermediate
champion of the open division was
junior 3-year-old Hearts Desire
Jethro Carla, owned by David
Kocher (breeder of Tara’s champ
ion), of Pennsylvania Fumance.
Both open division intermediate
champions were also the youth
division intermediate champions.
The junior champion of theopen
division was Cha-Do Stardust
Twinkle-TW, a fall yearling bred
and owned by Trisha Mcllwain, of
Cha-Do Farm in Canton. The
Browndale Stardust daughter was
also the junior champion of the
youth division.
The reserve junior champion of
the open division was Castlemont
Astre Trisha, a spring yearling out
of Duregal Astre Starbuck, owned
by John Castrogiovanni, of Cast
lemont Farms in Montrose.
The reserve junior champion of
the youth division was a fall year
ling, Tri-Day Astrid, shown by
Matthew Day, of Tri-Day Hols
teins in Shippensburg. Aslo a
Duregal Astre Starbuck daughter,
it was second in its age class in
both shows to Mcllwain’s junior
champion.
The premier exhibitor of the
show was Campbell-Run Farms in
Ford City. Campbell-Run houses
cattle shown by the Mark Camp-
bell family, and some jointly own
ed by the Campbells and either/or
the Doug Beatty family and Alex
Claypoole.
Their first place winner in the
100,000-pound milk cow class, an
almost 10-year-old cow, Wind-
Drift A J Natema, out of sire Bri
don Astro Jet, was also named the
winner of this year’s George M.
Knight Total Production Award.
The award recognizes both
showring performance and dairy
production. Natema’s best produc
tion record was 35,728 pounds of
milk, 1,428 pounds of fat and
1,052 pounds of protein in a
305-day lactation (twice-per-day
milking) that started when she was
6 years, 5 months old.

sion show and the Intermediate champion of the open show. She is presented with
rosettes from state alternate Dairy Princess Merldeth Weiderspahn and state Dairy
Princess Angela Werley.
