Burrell captured the Grand Cham
pion market lamb title at the York
Fair junior sheep show, claiming
the top honor with a 104-pound
Suffolk wether entry. The
16-year-old Dover exhibitor’s win
capped his earlier taking of the
honors in the light heavyweight
division.
Finishing in the Reserve Cham
pion spot was 17-year-old 4-H ve
teran Matt Trostle, Red Lion, win
ner of the heavyweight division
with his 130-pound homebred
Hampshire and Black Sheep
crossbred lamb.
Pairs honors in the junior divi
sion went to Adam Sellers,
Thomasville, with his winning
heavyweight Suffolk crossbreds.
Reserve champion in the pairs
runoff were the light heavy
weights exhibited by Jennifer
Flinchbaugh, York.
BREEDING SHEEP
Matt Trostle snagged two-of
three of the Supreme honors in the
York Fair’s junior sheep breeding
show.
The York 4-H shepherd
claimed the Supreme Champion
Ram with his Southdown spring
ram entry. In the Supreme Ewe
showdown, it was Trosde’s win
ning homebred Hampshire which
bested the other contenders.
In the pairs Supreme lineup,
Jennifer Flinchbaugh got the nod
for the banner with her winning
duo of Southdowns.
Paul Kitzmiller, Wellsville,
took all the purple champion rib
bons in the Dorset breed classes.
Reserve champion ewe was exhib
ited by Mark Brown, Spring
Grove. Kitzmiller also claimed all
spots, unopposed, in the Monta
dale classes.
Hampshire competition was
primarily a battle between Man
Trostle, Red Lion, and Jay Rishei,
Seven Valleys. Trostle claimed
the champion ram, ewe and pairs
spots, while Rishedl finished in
the reserve placings.
In the Southdown show, Trostle
dueled with York junior Jennifer
Flinchbaugh for the finishing
placings. Trostle took champion
and reserve ram, while Flinch
baugh claimed the champion and
reserve ewe and champion pair
honors.
Travis Flory, Red Lion, wrap
ped up the ram champion title in
the Suffolk breed show, over re
serve ram exhibitor Christina
Cypriotis. In the champion ewe
spot was Michael Burrell, Dover,
over reserve winner Flory. Pairs

Wellsville. Joseph Emenheiser,
Felton, had his entry named the
Best Promotional one, while Mi
chelle Miller. York, was chosen to
top the Most Attractive class of
entries.
