4-H Horse Show Held
The Adams County 4-H Horse
Show was held July 27 at the Hal
cyon Farm, Ltd. near Dillsburg.
Nineteen 4-H members took
part in the day-long competition,
exhibiting their horse or pony in at
least one of 44 classes. Each mem
ber works with their animal all
year and also completes a project
book. Members must attend S club
meetings throughout the year,
give an oral presentation, com
plete their project book, collect 3
class sponsors, and receive a
grooming and showmanship
score.

Pony trophy. Julie Fitzgerald suc
cessfully defended last year’s title
on Simply Irresistible, taking
home the Working Hunter Horse
trophy for the second consecutive
year.
4-H Dairy Members
Successful At Districts
Adams County 4-H Dairy Club
members successfully exhibited
24 animals at the South Central
District 4-H Dairy Show on Aug.
24 at the Harrisburg Farm Show
Complex.
A total of 165 head from nine
counties were shown before type
judges Ron Heffner, Jefferson,
Md. and Mike lager, Fulton, Md.
The day began with the show
manship contest In the senior
division, 14-18 year olds. Joy
Hess. Gettysburg, placed third.
The intermediate division
included 4-H members 11-13
years of age. Shannon Holtinzger,
East Berlin, placed third. In the
junior division, 8-10 year olds,
champion was Brad Campbell,
New Oxford. Mollie Van Lieu,
East Berlin, placed third.
In the Brown Swiss show,
junior champion was the first
place winter calf. Bells Delight
Amelia, shown by Brad Campbell.
Senior and grand champion
Brown Swiss honors went to the
winning 4-year old. Gemstone
Sarah, shown by Joy Hess. Hess
also placed third in the summer
yearling class. In the spring calf
class, Sarah Gieron of New
Oxford placed third. Taking first
place in the spring yearling class
was Brandy Rhodes of Gettys
burg. All six Brown Swiss
received blue ribbons. In county
herd competition (four animals
from the same competition),
Adams County placed second.

show of the day. Winning the
spring calf class was Clayton
Wood, Littlestown. Cristine Holt
zinger and Brad Campbell also
exhibited in the spring calf class.

bon in the winter calf class. Carl
Wilkinson, Aspers, exhibited in
the winter calf class. Shannon
Holtzinger exhibited in the winter
calf and fall calf classes. In the
summer yearling class, Sarah

The District VI 4-H Horse Per
formance Show was held at the
Lebanon County Fairgrounds on
Saturday, Aug. 17. Bethany Dorr,
Gettysburg, placed first in senior
division English grooming and
showmanship.
Nicholas Demkoj'New Oxford,
took home first place ribbons in
walk trot equitation (therapeutic)
and obsacle trail course (therapeu
tic). Dorr and Demko will be com
peting in the State 4-H Horse
