Penn State’s Ag Arena was a busy
place when a record number of
young dairy promoters gathered
for an intensive day of instruction
on the “how to’s” of promoting
the dairy industry and its products.
On July 25, 83 young people
and 26 adults from 23 Pennsylva
nia counties spent the day attend
ing workshops and lectures
designed to train the participants
for their job as promoters. Work
shops were held on “The Basics

a Mini Seminar.

Animal Welfare and Public Con

Penn State’s department of animal
and dairy science. For the adults, a
special session was held by Arlene
Wilbur, assistant program direc
tor, on county dairy promotions
and the role of dairy princesses
and their associates.

An entertaining skit on “How
NOT To Promote” concluded the
day’s program.
A sandwich luncheon was
served including milk and ice
cream and all participants
received packets of information
and a “Got Milk?” T-shirt. Fol
lowing the day’s activities, an
optional tour of Penn State’s new
Bryce Jordan Center was offered
for all those interested in visiting
the facility.
The Mini-Training Seminar is
conducted annually by Pennsylva
nia Dairy Princess and Promotion
Services as part of its effort to
train interested young people in
the art of promotion. All those
