Jared, 11. son of Gary and Lynn Forry, Manheim, is in the sixth grade at Kraybill Mennonite School Jared showed a blue butt (York/Hamp crossbred) weighing 247 pounds from a man in Pine Grove who advertised in Lancaster Farming, said Jared. Jared said he kept die hog fed well and watered. This is his first championship at the roundup. He plans to show hogs at several upcoming fairs, including four at Manheim, one at the Southeast 4-H Market Hog Derby, and one at the Farm Show. The reserve champion was purchased by Hatfield Quality Meats for $1.60 per pound for a total of $39320. In all there were a total of 118 hogs and about 65 exhibitors.
