4-Year-Old Is Champion Of District Jersey Show

SHIPPENSBURG (Franklin
Co.) Curtis L. Reichard should
be pretty pleased with his 4-year
old Jersey, Reich Dale Brigadier
Sandra Dee.
He should be happy because that
animal won the grand champion
awards in the open and FFA com
petitions during the District Jersey
Show at the Shippensburg Fair.
The Chambersburg youth’s cow
also was picked as the best animal
bred and owned by an exhibitor at
the show.
J. Craig and Susan Wicker of
Centre Hall also took home some
honors to be proud of when their
junior 2-year-old, Four Springs
Junio As mine, won the reserve
champion spot in the open contest
The champion animal in the 4-H
event was C B F Sooner Bonnie, a
4-year-old owned by Bradley
Reichard of Chambersburg.
Mel-O-Dawn Sooner Budlight,
the 4-year-old of Cory J. Mellott of
Mercersburg, was the 4-H reserve
champion for the show.
The FFA reserve champion was
a senior 2-year-old owned by
Bradley Reichard named Reich-
Dale Brook Hillary.
The Premier Breeders Award
was won by Four Springs Farm of
Centre Hall, with the Pleasant Val
ley and Mel-O-Dawn operations
placing second and third,
respectively.

In the 4-H Jersey competition, left, Cory Mellon received

Jemi Jerseys of Shippensburg
captured the premier exhibition
award followed by Four Springs in
second and Pleasant Valley in
third.
In the junior segment of the
show, the open champion was
Jemi Imperial Bethie, the winter
calf of Jeffrey and Michele Reas
ner of Shippensburg.
Pleasant Valley Design Sassy,
the fall yearling of Kelly R. Rotz of
Newvillc, won both the 4-H junior
champion and the open reserve
junior champion awards.
The FFA junior champion was
Pleasant Valley Expo Pearl, the
fall calf of Benjamin Mickey of
Waynesboro.
The FFA reserve junior champ
ion honor went to Julie Ann Dyar
man of Newville for her spring
yearling. Pleasant Valley Leaders
Satin.
Curtis Reichard was back in the
winner’s circle in the junior com
petition as well when his fall calf,
SV Sundown RD Jude Jasmine-
ET, became the 4-H reserve junior
champion.
The judge of the show was Ron
Heffner.
