Woodstock Turns 27
Mud and rain, music and art, crowds, new babies,
love beads, peace signs, war protests, tie-dyed
T-shirts or ponchos or bare skin . . They were all
part and parcel of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair
that ran from August 14 to 16, 1969, on a farm near
Woodstock, New York Carlos Santana, the Who,
i Jefferson Airplane, Joan Baez, Jimi Hendrix, and
k Richie Havens were just a few of the musical greats
on hand. Food, water, and medicines ran dry as the
% crowds and ram clouds swelled, but relative
M peaqe was maintained even as the numbers in
attendance surged over 300,000.
By the time we got to Woodstock,
we were half a million strong ■ . .
cr To remove mud from suede shoes, let them dry
thoroughly, then brush with a stiff-bristled brush.
