Brown Swiss Named York 4-H Surpreme Champion

YORK (York Co.) After two
years of finishing in the reserve
spot, the winning four-year-old
Brown Swiss, “Lake Lane Peb
bles” got the nod for the York 4-H
Dairy Roundup’s Supreme Cham
pion.
In his announcement of the
Supreme title winner, Judge Cree
din Com man, Carlisle, cited her
tremendous dairy character as one
of the reasons she topped his
selections.
Pebbles is one of about a dozen
cattle in the showstring of
15-year-old Delta 4-H’er Joshua
Hushon. The Victory Acres Jubi
lation Emory daughter is scored
EX-91, with a 93-udder, on her
third classification and projected
to 22,000 pounds of milk for her
second lactation. A veteran of the
show circuit. Pebbles claimed a
national honor last November
when she was named breed
champion of the North American
International Livestock Exposi
tion’s junior show.
Milking Shorthorn honors at the York 4-H Roundup went
to the entries of Heather Crawl, light, at the halter of her
senior and grand champion. Son! Mayberry holds the Junior
and reserve grand champion.
Supreme Champion at the York 4-H Roundup was the
champion EX-91 Brown Swiss, “Lake Pebbles,” a four-year
old exhibited by Joshua Hushon. From left are Creedin

The Supreme selection 'high
lighted the day-long roundup at
the Yoik Fairgrounds on July 30,
with more than 100 entries partici
pating in the county’s annual 4-H
dairy project wrapup.
In Aryshire judging, Stephanie
Pomraning, Delta, took senior and
grand champion honors with her
junior three-year-old Anchor-
Mere T. Alta. Reserve senior and
grand champion was the senior
two-year-old exhibited by Jason
Stambaugh, East Berlin. Junior
honors went to Susan Richardson,
Fawn Grove, whose spring calf
was selected as the heifer champ
ion, over the reserve spring year
ling exhibited .by Jesse Stam
baugh, East Berlin. Best bred and
owned was Triple J Value Julie, a
four-year-old owned by Jason
Stambaugh.
Brown Swiss reserve senior and
grand champion honors went to
Joshua Hushon, Delta, with
Brothers Three Nutty Buddy, a
senior two-year-old also named
best bred and owned. Hushon also
exhibited the junior champion.

Claiming both junior and grand
champion Guernsey titles was the
winter calf Rutter Bros. Magics
Wendy, exhibited by Terri John
son, York. Kimberly Pomraning,
Delta, earned the senior and
reserve grand champion honors
with her senior two-year-old. In
the reserve junior champion spot
was Tracy Richardson. Fawn
Grove, with her winning spring
calf.
Topping the large Holstein
competition was Dixie Lynn Doll,
Glen Rock, with her senior and
grand champion Dar-Dale Fancy
