DHIA Held staff met in the Holiday Inn at State College to plan for up coming events such as Empire Farm Days, Ag Progress Days and the fall technicians’ conferences. It was decided to put booths at both the upcoming trade shows. Empire Farm Days and Ag Prog ress Days. Emphasis will be placed on marketing the three ma jor departments, field service, la boratory service and processing service. These services make Pa. DHIA unique in the fact that it makes the cooperative the only stand-alone service in the country that offers all three services under one roof. This allows for better communica tion and quicker service to the membership. This year’s fall technicians’ conferences will be held in State College Oct. 14-18, at the Days Inn, State College. An agenda is being prepared at this time. These conferences are being held in order to conform with quality certification through Na tional DHIA which requires edu cation of employees. The fall con ference allows time for each tech nician to receive the yearly competency exam. Pa. DHIA to serve membership throughout the Clarion, Jefferson, Clearfield and Venango county areas. Theresa is responsible for 32 herds which consists of 1,900 cows. In the past, Theresa has worked as a herdsperson on two different dairy farms which included her family farm. Flexibility of scheduling and visiting with dairymen are two attributes that she likes most about the job of a technician. Fitch Is Tioga County Technician STATE COLLEGE (Centre Co.) Former Tioga County dairy princess Laura Fitch of Roaring Branch, is the newest member of the Pa. DHIA team serving Tioga County. Other past dairy experience includes growing up and waking on the family dairy farm, Four- Wynds Farm. In the past, Laura participated in numerous leader ship organization such as 4-H, F.8.L.A., Holstein Association and the Youth Education Associa tion. She held the office of presi dent in most of these organizations. Laura enjoys helping dairymen to better manage their herds. We congratulate Laura on her new appointment as technician to the membership of Tioga County. Pa. Susan Lander of Mercers burg recently began servicing herds for Pa. DHIA in the Franklin County area. Sue worked as a heidsperson for over 2'A years upon comple tion of high school and attending Wilson College. Sue’s circuit consists of 18 herds. In the future she plans on building up the number of herds. “Working closely with dairymen to improve milk production and improve 'the dairy herd as a whole” Sue said, is what she en joys most about her job.
