Fifteen-year-old Melissa Meiskey
is going to do what she loves best
ride Saturn Bay, her purebred
Arabian horse in the upcoming
Eastern Arabian Horse Show.
Held at the Quentin Riding
Club, south of Lebanon on August
2-4, it is one of the largest horse
shows in Pennsylvania. Not only is
it a spectacular horse show, but it
benefits the Four Diamonds Fund
for Children with cancer at the
Hershey Medical Center.
The show will feature more than
600 horses from 23 states and two
Canadian provinces competing in

Melissa prefers Arabian horses
because of their beauty, intelli
gence, and versatility.
The daughter of Neil and Julie
Meiskey of Lititz, Melissa has
been riding horse since she was
two years old. For the past seven
years, Melissa has been a member
of the Boots and Saddles 4-H Club
and is now secretary and a teen
leader of it
Those attending the show,
which does not charge admission,
can watch Melissa and others com
pete in classes such as Western,
English, Hunter, Dressage, Rein
ing, Mounted Native Costume,
Driving, Side Saddle, Halter, and
Jumping.
PDPP Board, the events took
place June 24 with the Erie Sea
wolves and July 9 with the Wil
liamsport Cubs. Emphasizing the
“got milk?” message, advertising
packages with the local ball clubs
were secured as a way to extend
messages locally.
Fans at both promotions were
greeted by local dairy princesses
The show begins at 8 a.m. each
day and ends at 10 p.m. Each day
offers a wide variety of classes and
a country fair with mote than 60
exhibits and displays with artists,
crafts, clothes, food, fun, and
surprises.
In addition, an art auction and
tack trunk raffle with more than
$6,000 in merchandise and gift
certificates will benefit the Four
Diamonds Fund.
Saturday For The Kids includes
a fun competition class for all
children under eight years of age,
who may participate in the free
stick horse class to be held at 6:30
p.m.
Proceeds from the chicken bar
becue held Thursday, Aug. 1 from
4 p.m, to 8. p.m. will also go tow
ard the Four Diamonds Fund.

The primary purpose of the fund
is to provide relief from extraor
dinary financial burdens for the
families of children with cancer
who are treated the Milton S. Her
shey Medical Center and for
research.
The Four Diamonds Fund is
taken from the title of an essay,
14-year-old Christopher R. Mil
lard wrote before he died of cancer
in 1972. Millard’s essay deals with
the struggles fought with the wea
pons of courage, wisdom, honesty,
and strength.
A booklet containing Millard’s
copyrighted essay reproduced in
his original hand writing is avail
able to those who make contribu
tions to the fund.
If you are unable to attend the
show, but would like to make a
contribution to the fund and
receive Millard’s essay, contribu
tions are payable to the. Milton S.
Hershey Medical Center for the
