Lewis R. Riley was elected presi
dent of the Southern Association
of State Departments of Agricul
ture (SASDA) at their recent an
nual meeting in Virginia. As a re
sult, Maryland will host the 1997
SASDA Meeting, now scheduled
for June 7-11,1997, in Annapolis.
SASDA represents the secretaries,
directors and/or commissioners of
agriculture in IS Southern states
plus Puerto Rico and the Virgin Is
lands.

to be asked by my colleagues to
head SASDA for the coming year.
