Earl and Carol Hendershot farm this new Dairy of Distinc
tion located near Warfordsburg in southern Fulton County.
The farm has 239 acres to feed their 65 milking cows and
young stock. The cows are housed in a freestall barn and
milked In a three year-old milking parlor. They grind their own
feed, and It Is dispensed through the new computer feeder. In
addition to Earl and Carol’s two children, Sara IS, and Andrew
13, their nephew Derek Hendershot works on the farm. And
Stella Hendershot, Earl’s mother who Is 80 years-old still helps
out where needed too.

Marvin and Ruth Stoltzfus farm 65 acres In Lancaster Coun
ty near Leola where they milk 54 mostly registered Holsteins.
Their herd average is 25,500 lbs. of milk, and they have quite a
number of records over 30,000 m. The farm has been In the
family 60 years. They milk In a tie stall barn and have cow mat
tresses and tunnel ventilation which Marvin thinks Is very
important for cow comfort. Marvin and Ruth have four child
ren, Kendall 8, Krisa 6, Kala 3, and Krystalyn 1.
