At R-WES Dairy Farm, located at Beaver Falls, Wesley and
Catherne Diehl’s new Dairy of Distinction has been In the fami
ly 50 years. Their 34 milk cows average 18,000 pounds of milk
and are milked in a stall barn with pipeline milkers. They farm
180 acres on two farms and raise alfalfa, corn, and wheat, oats,
and barley In rotation. Wesley believes quality of milk and
good management practices are the necessary Ingredients for
a good dairy farm. Wesley and Catherne have two children,
Christy, 22 and Ronald, 19, who Is a student at Penn State.

Larry Bauscher milks 50 Holstein cows and has 40 replace
ment heifers on this Series County Dairy of Distinction located
just north of Krumsville off Route 737. Along with his parents
and a brother who lives on a neighboring farm, they farm 175
acres. The farm has been In the family since 1949. The cows
are housed in a stall barn and milked with a pipeline. Larry
says you need good weather to help you be a good dairy
farmer.
