pork exports in 1995 had a signif
icant impact on American pork

Export sales of U.S. pork and
pork variety meat products, the
study reports, were responsible for

“We’re very pleased with the
results of this latest impact study,”
said U.S. Meat Export President
Philip M. Seng. “Once you’ve
looked back at what has been
accomplished in recent years, you
can’t help but get excited about
what the future holds for pork
exports.”
The study finds that hog prices
in the United States benefit sub
stantially from increased demand
for high-quality American pork in

in the United States, export sales
of U.S. pork added $11.78 per
head to the value Of slaughter hogs
in 1995. 1
The American pork industry
exported a record 365,289 metric
tons of pork and pork variety
meats in 1995, valued at $936 mil
lion. This is a 500 percent increase
in export volume since 1986. The
study notes that U.S. pork exports
in 1995 were equivalent to 4.26

The industry’s growth in fore
