Auction To Benefit Lititz

chicken barbecue kicks off the
19th annual Benefit Auction for
Lititz Area Mennonite school on
Friday, June 21, from 3 p.m. to 7
p.m. Eat-in or drive thru takes outs
include chicken, baked potato,
cole slaw, applesuce, roll, and
drink.
Bidding will begin at 6 p.m. on
Friday with the sale of crafts, flow
ers, certificates, Winross trucks
and collectible toys. Children's
entertainer Kevin Kabakjian, a
comedian and juggler will perform
at 7 p.m.
Saturday events begin with a
country-style all-you-can-eat buf
fet breakfast served from 6:30 a.m.
to 9:30 a.m.
The auction begins at 9 a.m. on
Saturday with gift certificates,
craft items including Sam Martin
wooden toys, a Ben Brubaker
handcrafted dollhouse, Bradford
Jbaskets. pottery, pencil clothe
strees, handpainted circular saw
blades, and garden items.
For sports entusiasts items to be
auctioned include autographed
sports cards, a Pete Rose auto
graphed bat, a Richie Ashbum
autographed baseball.
At noon, artwork to be auction
includes two handcrafted 3-D pic
tures by Aaron K. Zook titled Mill
Scene and Blacksmith Shop. An

Cloister by local artist Rosene Hol
linger and an original watercolor
of Wash Day Along Route 272 by
Rosanna Burkholder will go to the
highest bidder. Prints by local
artists Ralph Lindsay, Jeff Martin,
and Richard Bollinger will be sold
With those by Cyndy Gallog and
Roma Ruth.
The quilt auction begins at 1
p.m. and an antique auction featur
ing small furniture, crocks, pic
tures and more will begin at 2 p.m.

Erica, 14, is a student at Owen J.
Roberts. She is the daughter of
Ron and Cindy Lloyd, who operate
a farm. Erica owns and shows
Jerseys, Holsteins, and Brown
Siwss, and is president of the Tri-
Community 4-H Club. At school,
she is a member of the orchestra
and band. She has begun work
experience toward her future goals
of becoming a veterinarian. She
works part-time at Ryerss’ Horse
Farm for Aged Equines.
Julie, 14, is the daughter of
David and Holly Sollenberger of
Spring City. She is busy through
out the year, showing her own
Guernseys and Jerseys at various
fairs. Her Bth grade year at Owen J.
Roberts included 4-H, State
Guernsey Dairy Quiz Team, band,
student council, and lacrosse.
She’s also a teen leader in her
youth group.

Throughout the two-day cent,
plenty of food and entertainment
for children will be available.
Entertainment includes sand art,
train rides, a dunk tank, fish ball
toss, and a moon walk.
The two-day auction will be
held at the school located at 1050
E. Newport Road, Lititz. Take SOI
North through Lititz to Newport
Road, turn right and go approxi
mately 2 miles to the school on the

Princess
Michelle “Shelly” lives on a
250-acre dairy farm in the Coates
ville area with her parents, Don
and Nancy Windle. She is a stu
dent at the Octorara Middle
School, where she plays flute and
bassoon in the band. Field hockey
is her favorite sports activity,
where she plays center/halfback.
Shelly belongs to the church,
youth group, and 4-H. Being an
accomplished 4-H seamstress, she
has won various awards in fashion
revue. This is her first year as a
dairy maid.
Karen Inhof, 1995 dairy prin
cess, spoke about her memorable
events as the dairy princess before
crowning Sarah Laffey.
Charlene Ranck, 1981 Chester
County and state dairy princess,
spoke about the importance of the
dairy promotion program to the
industry and to those who serve in
it. She said the dairy maids “will
develop in ways they have never
dreamed of before.”
