The group gathered in the state Capitol recently to mark the occasion. More than 38 percent of agricultural income in Pennsylvania is generated by milk sales. Sales from milk alone represents a $1.46 billion contribution to • the state's economy. The state's processing plants and manufacturers add to the value of milk. Last year, 645,000 dairy cows produced 10.6 billion pounds of milk. The state also ranks second nationally in production of Ice cream (at 66 million gallons) and sixth iri cheese(34B million pounds). As part of June Dairy Month, MAMMA Is sponsoring Dairy Day June 5 at the Philadelphia County Fair. Other stents include a June 19 dairy night with the Reading Phillies, and June 20 with the Harrisburg Senators.
