Contest
The Clear Spring FFA Chapter
won the first place banner in the
Vegetable Judging Contest held
recently during the Annual Mary
land FFA Spring Judging Contests
hosted by the University of Mary
land's College of Agriculture on
the College Park Campus.
The contest is sponsored by the
Middletown FFA Alumni Associ
ation as a special project of the
Maryland FFA Foundation.
The high scoring individual for
the Vegetable Judging Contest
was Lauren Moffatt FFA member
of the Catoctin Chapter. The Flin
stone FFA Chapter took the sec
ond place banner in the contest

the floriculture event was Emily
O’Hara, FFA member of the Fre
derick Chapter. The Linganore
FFA Chapter took the second
place banner in the Event.

The winning teams in the dairy
foods contest from first through
fifth were 1. Frederick High, 2.
On April ii, Todd Hubor, Jessica Althouse, Tyler Swan
son, and Beth Frey competed at county public speaking
contest at Pequea Valley High School. Beth Frey and Tyler
Swanson competed In the creed contest where they recited
the FFA Creed and answered questions.
Jessica Althouse and Todd Huber competed In an ex
temporaneous public speaking contest. In this contest
they drew a topic and were given 30 minutes to write a 4-6
minute speech. They also had to answer questions. Tyler
Swanson placed first In the creed contest while Beth Frey
placed second. Jessica Althouse placed first while Todd
Huber placed second In the extemporaneous contest. All
four Manor FFA members now will move on to the regional
level.
