a breach birth and remembered to
keep the legs bent backward to
assist in a healthy delivery.
Most of the Ogden goats are
kept to increase the herd, but some
are sold at four months of age at an
auction.
Oliver said that raising goats can
be a lucrative business. While
cow’s milk averages $l4 per hun
dredweight, goat milk sold for
cheese averages $26 per hundred
weight In addition the ethnic
market for meat goats continues to
grow.
Some of the goat milk is bottle
fed to the kids and the remainder
Oliver pasteurizes for he and his
wife’s use and for friends.
