ASRMtaster Farming,‘SatuMay/April 43;».1«96, Holstein USA, National DHIA Team Up In Animal ID numbering system in late 1995, approving American ID as a way to allow for unificationof the industry’s identification system. The American ID number will consist of a country code and a unique 12-digit number. The Boards also unanimously sup ported the concept of a voluntary national ID program referred to as the National Farm Animal Identi fication and Records (National F.A.1.R.). National F.A.I.R. would expand American ID beyond parentage and performance recording organizations, to also include state veterinarians, herd health practitioners, and USDA agencies, among others. Administration of ID records electronically from the farm to databases would insure higher accuracy of the data while main taining efficiencies.
