Syndicate Shows Grand
(Continued from Page A 1)
She is the daughter of the
Windy-Knoll-Vicw Ultimate Pala
cow that Justin’s parents showed
to championships in past years.
Justin also showed the reserve
junior champion animal, also
named junior champion of the
youth division, a spring yearling
heifer, Windy-Knoll-View JJB
Cha Cha, out of sire Boulet
Charles-ET.
Curtis and Ann Day of Tri-Day
Farm in Shippensbutg, showed the
junior champion, a fall calf, Tri-
Day Blacks tar Samantha. Their
son Matthew Day showed the
youth division reserve junior
champion, a fall yearling, Tri-Day
Astrid, a Duregal Astre Starfouck-
ET daughter.
The reserve grand and senior
champion of the youth division
was a junior 3-year-old Bursh-
Creek-Vu Raidr Secret, a bred and
owned daughter of Hanoverhill
Raider-Et, owned by Amanda
Cessna, of Everett
Penn Gate Farm, owned by Bob
Gitt and Steve and Chrissy Wood,
Littlestown, was named premier
breeder and exhibitor of the show.
The 43rd Pa. Holstein Associa
tion State Spring Show was judged
by Lowell Lindsay, of Gelph,
Ontario.
A number of people helped with
the show, announcing, keeping
records, and distributing ribbons
and trophies. Included were Aliene
Thompson, Eldon Ford, Ben Wil
son, Colleen Cashell, Jan Harding,
Yvonne Peterman, Emily Dum,
Art Salisburg, George Cashell,
Douglas Baker. Irene Osborne,
Heather Oberholtzer, Jennifer
Davis, and Angela Boob.
The number of entries was down
slightly from last year’s spring
show. Last year there were 264
cattle checked in, while this year
there were 239 counted entries.
However, there were a number of
new faces this year.
From the left, Justin Burdette shows the youth division
reserve junior champion, Windy-Knoll-View JJB Cha Cha,
while Matthew Day holds the halter of his reserve Junior
champion, Tri-Day Astrid.
Members of the Pennsylvania Holstein Association Southcentral District and
executive board members conduct an election of a representative from the district
during ths 43rd Spring Show.
hi other business, a PHA admi
nistration matter was handled dur
ing the show as members of the Pa.
Holstein Association Southcentral
District held a special election for a
board director to fulfill the remain
ing year in the term of director
James Burdette, of Mercerburg,
who was elected the association’s
vice president.
Association bylaw requires a
replacement representative from
the state officer’s district to sit on
the Executive Committee. The
PHA Executive committe con
sists of the officers and one direc
tor from each of the six PHA dis
tricts into which the state is
divided.
This ensures that the state offic
ers can commit their efforts for the
entire state association, while their
home district does not suffer from
direct representation.
Since there were enough people
from the district present, and
enough board members, it was not
necessary to hold a special meeting
of the state board to appoint a
replacement to carry out the rest of
the term.
Elected was Creedin Corman of
Carlilsc, a well-known Holstein
breeder who has also been
involved as a dairy judge at diffe
rent shows.
