They are currently milking 230 cows at My Lady’s- Manor Farm Inc. Robert and Harold had similar starts in the registered Holstein business. Early involvements in 4-H projects led to the develop ment of key cow families for both of them. Each had a supreme champion in 4-H and both had a Jr. All American cow. Early use of embryo transfer enabled Harold and Robert to de velop an outstanding group of foundation females. Those foundation animals now comprise the bulk of the current Lady’s- Manor herd. Their desire was to develop a herd of cows which could satisfy the demands of any buyer they said. Currently, Lady’s-Manor cattle are being merchandised around the world. Robert and wife, Mary “Sam” Smith have two sons, Justin and Jarod, ages 10 and 9. Robert was president of the Harford County Holstein Club, and currently is a county director. Harold and Colleen have two sons, Harold 111 and David, ages 13 and 10. Harold is currently a state Holstein director and show chairman. The Joseph Schwartzbcck fami ly, Peace and Plenty Farm, were honored with the 1995 Miss Fu turity for Windy Knoll View Peace and Plenty-ET. Doty Remsburg Memorial Trophy, was presented to Bob Knutsen, registered Holstein breeder and father of three. Bob and his wife, Ginger, along with his brother Warren, pur chased their 205-acre farm in Ris ing Sun in 1966. They currently milk about 80 cows, and regularly merchandise offspring of the herd, including heifers and embryoes to over 12 foreign countries, and bulls to four different AI centers. Bob has always been active in many organizations. He has been a Sunday School teacher, lay leader, and administrative board chair man in his church. He served as president of the lo cal PTA, was a member of the county Forestry Board, and was a Select Sires director for four years. He was an officer and Board member of the County DHIA. Bob was one of the founders of the Cecil County Farm Bureau Young Farmers, served as presi dent of the county Farm Bureau, and in 1969 was honored as the county Farm Bureau Outstanding Fanner of the Year. He was on the Cecil County Fair board, and is currently a member of the State Fair board. Bob has been actively involved in 4-H programs for over 40 years, first as a member, and then as a leader. He received the Extension Pioneer award in 1989. His 4-H club, the Rising Sun Milk Squin ers won the Hoard’s Dairyman Judging Contest, and also the Maryland Slate Dairy Bowl com petition. Bob served as an officer and board member of the Cecil County Holstein Association and started the popular Eastern Shore Show case Sale 27 years ago. He served as president and vice president of the Maryland State Holstein Asso ciation. He and Ginger co-chaired the Publicity and Information Com mittee for the National Holstein Convention in 1981, and the Maryland State Show Committee for 10 years. Bob serves as an ag advisor to Congressman David Rudolph. His wife Ginger works at the University of Delaware as an ad ministrative assistant for the Co operative Extension Service. His eldest son, Eric, is a loan officer for the Bel Air division of Mary land Farm Credit. His second son. Kris, just com pleted his master’s degree in kinesiology, and is employed by Delaware State Parks. Daughter Karen is the public relations direc tor for Semex USA East. The convention concluded with an evening dinner and awards banquet for the youth. Toastmaster for the evening was Lynn Ausherman, secretary treasurer of the Frederick County Holstein Association. Guests were treated to musical selections per formed by Abigail Sowers and a milk toast by State Dairy Princess Christina Harper. Following the evening meal. Maryland youth were honored with award presentations. New officers elected for the Jr. Club are Mark lager, president: Jeff Sutton, vice president; Ste phanie Wolf, secretary-treasurer. Dee Guyton, reporter; and Jason Watt, historian. Dr. J. Lee Majeskie honored Maryland’s award winning dairy judging teams. The B Team, that went to Louisville, consists of Kristin Myers, Amy lager, Emily Birch, and Erin FeuilleL The Uni versity of Maryland Judging Team members are Bobby Fogle, Scan Johnson, Mark lager, and Marie Speak. The state 4-H Judging Team, that was the high team in the nation and is to go on to Eur ope consists of Chris Seymour, Mark Schnebly, Jessica Fritz, and Darren Remsburg. Comprising the state winning FFA Judging Team are Kelly My ers, Christina Harper, Kristin My ers, and Jessica Fritz. Members of the Holstein Dairy Bowl Team, who will go on the National Hol stein Convention in Texas are Darren Remsburg, Mark lager, April Hall, Tom Mueller, and Mike Allen. The 4-H Dairy Bowl Team, that went to Louisville has members Dee Guyton, Jeff Sutton, Jason Watt, Sara Bedgar, and Stephanie Wolf. Maryland Junior Record Book Winners for 1995 were: Junior Boys: 1.
