Then she tried several dif ferent types of frosting, which her husband and the hairdresses at her shop sampled before voting peanut butter frosting as the crowning combination. Barbara etched a chocolate but terfly from Hershey’s Kisses and semi-sweet chocolate chips to hov er over the heavenly creation. Winning the blue ribbon brought with it a weekend trip for four at the Hershey Resort and Conference Center in Hershey. Second place went to Cindy Bruce of West Chester. Her Cho colate Fudge Turtle Cake sounds fabulous, but Cindy said that neith er she nor her family has ever sampled it “I’d like to taste it,” said both husband Bob and 11-year-old son Mike. But they have no promises of one from Cindy who bakes for others but has no time to bake for her own family. She examined many recipes before selecting the one to bake for the contest. She then chose a car amel sauce and a favorite frosting to lather on the cake. Third prize was captured by Georgia Voce of Breezewood. Two years ago, she qualified for state competition but did not win. Determined to qualify again, Geogia entered numerous fairs.
