    Wagner’s Jersey Supreme Champion At Farm Show

Wagner farms 200 acres with his
father. They have 70 cows that
include several breeds. Their pre
fix is 80-Joy.
The runner-up to the supreme
champion was die grand champion
Brown Swiss for Richard Martin,
Volant, in Lawrence County.
Campswiss Supreme Faith is clas
sified Excellent 91 and has lifetime
milk records in three lactations of
54,000 pounds. Her dam Bowers
Johrny Mazella was also Excel
lent. Faith has a string of show
wins, including grand champion in
western Pennsylvania and was
nominated for the All-American
award.
The grand champion Holstein
was the home-bred Fountain Farm
Star B Empress that topped the
three year-old class for Hairy and
Aliene Thompson, Carlisle, in
Cumberland County. Empress is
sired by Starbuck, and her dam is a
show cow with 200,000 m lifetime.
The grand champion Ayrshire
was Eureka Pride Opal, shown by
Seth Wolfgang, Bechtelsville.
Berks County. The aged cow has
not been classified but has won at
numerous shows, including grand
champion at Reading Fair. Opal’s
sire is Mar-Ral Commander’s
Pride, and her dam is Eureka Liber
ator Cheryl
The grand champion Guernsey
was the aged cow, Lebanon Valley
Ned Kathy, for Thomas Smith,
Lebanon Valley Farms, Annville,
Lebanon County. She is scored
excellent at 90 points and was the
reserve grand champion at the Pen
nsylvania All-American.
The grand champion Milking
Shorthorn was Innisfail RB Lily
230-EXP shown by Horizon Farm,
New Enterprise, Bedford County.
Lilly is Excellent at 90 points and
has a 3y record of 17,480 m. She
had not been shown at the Farm
Show before but had been reserve
grand champion at the Eastern
National and was second in class at
the World Dairy Expo.
Gov. Ridge said before he was in
public service he was like most
consumers and took dairy products
for granted. But now he aware that
dairy fanning dominates the farm
industry and said he was pleased to
come back to the Farm Show to
present the supreme champion
honors.
“It is a pleasure for me, along
with Sec. Brosius and Dennis
Gnimbine, Farm Show Commis
sioner, to recognize the supreme
champion," Ridge said.
