New Year’s Luck
Superstitions abound at New Year’s Eve, perhaps
more than any other time of year. How you spend
your evening and day will predict the year to come,
many believe. In many cultures, windows are opened
just before midnight to let the bad luck out and wel
come in the good luck for the coming year.
Noisemakers keep demons at bay. Keep money in your
pockets, or you’ll go poor all the year. Kiss the person
you hope to keep kissing, and do the thing you hope to
keep doing during the year to come. Never hang a
calendar before the New Year,
