QUESTION John Kreider, New Holland, writes that he
collects milk bottles from dairies in Pennsylvania. He has one
from Sunnyside Farm, Flicksville. Does anybody know where
this dairy is located or where it was because he cannot pin
point it on current Pennsylvania maps. John would also like to
know where A.T. Shiedy Dairy and John Kraybill Dairy are
located.
QUESTION Marilyn Dunker, Spring Valley, ILL., would
like to find cross stitch pattern for Allis-Chalmers Model WD
tractor.
QUESTION —Laura Jennings, Columbia, N. J., writes that
she has a blue-eyed (sky blue) rabbit. Is this common?
QUESTION Elva Mathiot, would like to know where to
purchase a unde washer, made by Stanley Home Products,
Inc. It is used to wash lingerie and stockings.
QUESTION Lebanon Countian Harold Kreider, Box
1890, #l, Jonestown, PA (717) 865-7447. Has a Kohler air
boat engine, single cyl.-two cycl. model #K295-Ist.-295 CC.
He needs an owner's manual or to talk to someone familiar

QUESTION Esther Nolt, Newmanstown, would like to
know where she can buy a set of Jungle Doctor books written
by Paul White. She enjoyed these books as a child and would
like to get them for her children.
QUESTION Dale Leighow, R.R.3, Box 368, Catawissa,
would like to locate some seed from a com called 8-row yellow
or possibly Flint com. It is a small diameter cob about
8-10-inches long. Also the cob is white and every ear has
eight rows of Kernals. The kernel is about the size of an aver
age person's fingernail on the ring finger and is dark yellow in
color. It was used many years ago to grind into cornmeal. Dale
would like 20 to 25 kernels to plant in 1996.
QUESTION A Turbotville reader would like to know
where to find literature or an owner's manual on a US Slicing
Machine Co., Van Berkel’s original hand crank meat slicer
that was made in 1912 in La Porte, Ind.
QUESTION Daniel Esh, Gordonville, would like to know
where to purchase a small battery-operated music box that
imitates a canary singing.
QUESTION Glenda Strouse, Northumberland, would
like to know the title and author of an excerpt from the follow
ing poem. The complete poem appeared in the 12/9 issue, but
we need to condense for space. It's her grandmother’s favo
rite poem and she could recite every word until a stroke took
her voice. She is 89 and in a nursing home, but Glenda reads
this poem to her every Christmas. Glenda said that there may
be parts missing or wrong since she wrote it from memory.

has a Turbo Baker II bread machine, manufactured by DAK
Industries of Canoga Park, Calif. She wants to order a
replacement part. She was in touch with the company as
recently as last fall but now both their phone numbers are out
of service. Does anyone have recentinformation on the com
pany or know if another company took over the manufacture
of the bread machine?
QUESTION Al Freysz, Middletown. Md., would like to
know where to obtain parts for a Bonanza apple parer.
QUESTION Bill Sherwood, Beavertown, is looking for
two items. One is a kid’s wagon made by Sherwood Company
with the name Sherwood printed on the side. The other is a
goat wagon. Both should be older models that are in good
shape and priced reasonably.
QUESTION Sandra Laughman, Hardin, Mo., wrote that
she read about a woman who creates pickled fabrics. Sandra
would like information on the procedure and ingredients to
use.
QUESTION Lisa Sparr, Upper Falls, Md., would like to
know how to get the grates on a gas grill clean.
QUESTION Lena Hoover, Shippensburg, would like to
order wigs through the mail. She uses the wigs for doll’s hair.
The wigs should be Inexpensive but good quality.
QUESTION David Hoover, Ephrata, wants to know if
Joseph Barr one dollar bills are collector items. There are five
in a set.
QUESTION Edward Clar, 363 Swedesford Rd., Frazer,
PA 19355-1603, would like a special book about terrier dogs.
QUESTION Ellen Ranck, Cochranville, would like to
know where to purchase the first reader book, "Ben and
Alice."
QUESTION Robert Noller, Medford, N.J., writes that
some time ago an ad appeared in this paper for plans to build
a vegetable stand. He purchased the plans and misplaced
them. Anyone able to help him with a name and address?
QUESTION A Lehighton subscriber writes that she is
the person who had requested an address for the company of
the Merit Quik Chef Fast Grill. Someone sent an address, but
when she wrote to it, her letter was returned. Does someone
have an up-to-date address?
QUESTION—Joan Francisco, Stroudsburg, would like to
know whereto purchase oil of cassia, used in Italian cooking.
QUESTION—Yvonne Lawrence, Newburgh, N.Y., would
like to know where to purchase a rhubarb and soda mixture
used for indigestion. She used to purchase it in a pharmacy
but finds the New York pharmacies don’t stock it anymore.
ANSWER —Mrs. Clyde Barrick, 2660 Walnut Bottom Rd.,
Carlisle, Pa. 17013, wanted the words to the “The Night the
Animals Talked.” Thanks to Theresa Haas, Pitman, who sent
the Animal’s Yuletide Tale by Dianne Benson McCorry. Since
it is too long to print in this paper, it is being sent directly to Mrs.
Barricks.
ANSWER — In answer to Kathryn Heberling, Falls Creek,
who had some questions about teaberry flavoring, Mary Lou
Weisser, Lansdale, sent information she has compiled over
the years. Mary Lou writes that she is addicted to the teaberry
flavor and through the years has gathered the following infor
mation; Teaberry is a methyl-saliciate wintergreen flavoring.
It is available in an extract made by John Wagner and Sons,
Jacksonville Rd., Ivyland, PA 18974 or call (215) 674-5000.
This is pure wintergreen oil and 90 percent alcohol. It is not
sweet.
Another, stronger extract can be purchased from Byron H.
Smith Co., Bangor, Maine 04401. This is a pure extract of
checkerberry, which is oil of sweet birch, methyl-salicylate
and 67 percent alcohol.
She also has a syrup, which is sweet of checkerberry from
a place in Conn. Years ago, it was made by Doudens on the
Green, 87 Whitefield St., Guilford, Conn. Phone (no area

Years ago, Mary Lou was able to get ice cream teaberry fla
vor from the Weiss Markets chain Carnival brand.
She also purchases chocolate covered patties from a can

a 1965,1966, or 1967 gas tank (new, old stock) for a 1965

for the Farm Show sale, the ani
mals must place in the top 55 per
cent of the class.
As with the other competitors,
winning the top trophies are not
everything. It’s fun to meet other
exhibitors from across the state
and compare notes. Some friend
ships result in lasting relation
ships. The Donoughs ought to
know. Their parents met in Farm
Show competition as teen-agers
and their friendship blossomed
into a lifelong commitment of
marriage.
The Donoughs are grateful for
the support of businesses that
purchase the sale animals.
“It’s a great opportunity for kids
to earn some money for college,”
Ed said.
Travis has his sights set on
attending Penn State to study ani
mal science or ag engineering.
In addition to 4-H, both boys are
Boy Scouts. Ryan is fascinated
with computer art class. But it’s
their 4-H projects that take the
most time and commitment.
“It’s lots of fun. We can leam a
lot about managing time and
money. And, it teaches us respon
sibility,” Ryan said.
His brother agreed. “But you
can tell the kids whose parents help
them, because kids can’t do every
thing on their own,” Travis said.

Bus Trip
HONESDALE (Wayne Co.) -
The Wayne County Cooperative
Extension Office will be sponsor
ing a bus trip to the Pa. Fann
Show on Tuesday, January 9.
The bus will leave the Wayne
County Courthouse at 7 a.m. and
stop in Hamlin at the McDonald’s
Restaurant en route to Harrisburg.
The bus will leave the Farm Show
complex at 4:30 p.m. and return to
Honesdale at approximately 7:30
p.m.
$l5 will reserve your seat on
the Farm Show bus. Stop in at the
Wayne County Extension Office
located at the Wayne County
Courthouse between the hours of
8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to pay for
your seat. Reservations will not be
accepted without payment.
