Jr. Holstein Association To Hold Convention STATE COLLEGE (Centre Co.) Junior members of the Pennsylvania Holstein Associa tion are gearing up for their 1996 convention to be held Feb. 9-11 at the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport Along with the help of co chairpcrsons Tim and Denise Wct ■fccl and other adults, many junior members have been involved in the planning of the convention. It kicks off Friday evening with commercial exhibits and the open ing of a dairy bar. Later in the evening, teams are to be tested for seeding in the dairy bowl, fol lowed by the annual meeting. Keeping with this year's social event theme, “Night in the Ball park," everyone attending is asked to wear an item of clothing that supports a favorite ball team. There are games and contests planned, as well as food and a dance with music provided by Jesse Lawrence, a junior Holstein member. Saturday starts early with the dairy bowl contest and severl workshops. Additionally, two tours of the Little League Museum have been scheduled, while the Williamsport YWCA is to be available in the afternoon for swimming and other activities. Saturday evening is highlghted by a dinner and dance with special door prizes to be awarded. An awards breakfast is sche- dated far Sunday morning with juniors to be honored for their work in Pennsylvania Holstein Association programs. Announced will be winners of the Distin guished Junior Award, scholar ships, high producing cows, and others. Featured speaker of the break fast is to be John Rodgers, with a planned inspirational talk. Each members must sign and have their parents) sign a state ment outlining the rules of behavior 1. Alt juniors must be in their rooms by 12:30 a.m. on Friday, and 1:30 a.m„ Saturday. 2. Doors will be open at all times when mixed company is in the room. 3 Absolutely no drugs or alco hol will be used or consumed. 4. Upon registration, each junior is to name a chaperone who is to be responsiblefor the junior’s actions. If a chaperone is not named, a chaperone will be at the hotel. 5. Anyone found destroying hotel property will be charged for damages. 6. The Convention Committee will not be responsible for anyone leaving the convention facilities without permission of the conven tion chairperson. 7Any violator of these rules will not be eligible for any state awards for a period of one year, and they will be sent home at theparent(s)’s cost.
