The Requates were selected from among 10 other young couples’" from across the country at the NMPF’s annual meeting this fall in Nashville, Term. The National Milk Producers Federation is a Washington-based legislative organization that repre sents more than half of the nation’s 112,000 dairy farmers. The Federation deals with issues that include the federal dairy pro gram, animal health, food safety, conservation and the environment, international trade, and regulatory reform. “The YC program is a leader- ship program designed to educate and develop tomorrow’s genera tion of dairy leaders,” Dan explained. The Requates said attending the meeting in Nashville was a great opportunity to meet and talk with people from across the country and get new ideas. “We really enjoyed meeting other young farmers who are interested in milk promotion, pro ducing quality milk, and further ing the positive image of the dairy industry,” Dan added. The Requates milk 12S cows and farm 350 acres in Rensselaer County. Dairylea is a Syracuse-based dairy cooperative with more than 2,400 member farms throughout the Northeast. It markets nearly 4 billion pounds of milk annually and participates and is invested in a milk marketing network stretch ing from Maine to Maryland to Ohio.
