December Pasture Walk Set
FREDERICK, Md. The last
pasutre walk of 1995 for Frederick
County, Maryland will be held on
Wednesday. Dec. 20, from 10 a.m.
until noon. Peter and Marcie Vor
ac, Castle Hill Farm will be host
ing the event.
The Voracs currently have
about 20 Polled Hereford cows
and 40 Suffolk sheep. Permanent
pastures consist of fescue,
orchardgrass, bluegrass, and clov
ers. Alfalfa, orchardgrass and
timothy hay fields are also
brought into die pasture system as
required during dry weather and
winter months.
Stockpiled forages, watering
systems, and fencing will be
discussed.
The purpose of the pasture walk
is to allow livestock producers a
chance to learn more about the use

to crossroad intersection. Turn
right at intersection to continue on
Broad Run Rd. 1.3 miles to the
lane on the left From Middle
town, head south on Burkittsville
Rd. (Rt 17) approximately 3.4
miles. Turn left onto Broad Rd.
(Rt. 383). Go one mile. Turn left
onto Broad Run Rd. Go 4/10 mile
