annual Barks County Farm
Women Convention held

Ag Center.

A memorial service was
held in honor of three former
members, Florence Toms of
Group 3, Alberta Keener of
Group 5, and Grace Shacffcr
of Group 1.
Carol Stoudt gave a slide
show titled “Berks County,
Where We Love to Live.”
Berks County Dairy Prin
cess Jennifer Davis gave a skit
on the benefits of using dairy
products. Li’l Miss Dairy
Princess Maggie Heller said a
poem.
Eleven children partici
pated in the state project con
test, “My Favorite Place in
Pennsylvania.” Kindergarten
and first grade winners were
Harold Keeney and Alyssa
Prutzman; second and third
grade, Ariana Keeney and
Steven Geris; fourth and fifth
grade, Janel Keeney, Katrina
Prutzman, and Ryan Krisch.
Sixth through eighth, Mary
Ferry, Shawn Krisch, and
Brian Mauger. Ninth through
12th, Amy Woodell.
Each participant received a
certificate and a monetary
gift
Group awards were given
for scrapbook, safety, youth
and attendance.
State president Dorothy
Strickler installed Dorothy
Lutz as county treasurer.
During the afternoon ses
sion, handcrafted items
donated by each farm women
group were auctioned. The
proceeds of the auction were
donated to Berks Heim and
the Hamburg Center.
The Jolly Boom has enter
stained and led the group in the
'Chicken Dance and the
Hokey Pokey.
