AB-Lancnt«r Farming, Saturday, Octobar 28, 1995 ■fHi All Saints’ Day Originally celebrated on May 13, All Saint’s Day was a catch-all holiday to honor saints without days of their own. In the Bth century the date was changed to November 1, making All Hallow’s Eve October 31st, as an attempt to counteract a pagan holiday traditionally celebrated then. The Celt’s celebrated the end of the old year on October 31, their New Year commencing November 1, and bonfires were lit to help the Sun through the dark days of winter. The masquerade elements <>f the holiday were added in the 18th and 19th centuries, when “guisers” stepped out in costume to drive away evil They are not all saints who use holy water. *r To combat a tweet tooth, rinae your mouth with a tea spoon of baking soda in a cup of water.
