Through the newsletter and other methods, Hoppes said he will act to serve as contact liaison with the state and national associations in developing educational prog rams and ensuring instructors are hired at th& high school level. The state organization plans to meet for their winter convention on Feb. 6-8,1996, at the Somerset Ramada Inn. At the February con vention, Hoppes said the delegates will vote to host the 1999 National Young Farmers Education Institute. Hoppes has contributed his time, with his wife, toward the pro duction of the state association’s newsletter, published about (five times a year. He served as co-editor the past three years the state association paid for the materials and production. But in his new role, effective Oct. 1, Hoppes hopes to use die news letter as a way to disse minate information about leadership min ing and educational programs available from the association. A big part of Hop pes’s responsibilities will be to work with the 34 affiliated county organizations to ensure that industry and educa tion work together to provide part-time instruction to local far mers and farm-related organizations. In the meantime, Hoppes hopes to work in getting the FFA and other organizations more involved in the Young Farmer program. A LESSON WELL LEARNED... DairySTOß quickly and easily turns individual cow production data into lactation curves. Produc ers can take other event informa tion such as reproduction status, medical treatments or BST usage and overlay on top of the lactation curve for better management deci sions. Historical graphs can also be created. Reports are created from the DairySTOß database. Producers can use the pre-designed reports or create their own report by selecting the information to meet their needs.
