who have made signif
icant contributions to
the Angus breed will be
inducted into the Angus
Heritage Foundation
during special ceremo
nies Nov. 13 at the
American Angus Asso
ciation Annual Banquet
in Louisville, Ky.
They include four
active members of the
American Angus Asso
ciation and three others
who will be inducted
posthumously. The
active members are Bill
Conley, Groton, Mass.;
Tom and Bob Drake,
Davis, Okla.; and James
E. “Ed” Horton Jr..
Madison, Ala.
Honored posthum
ously for their service to
the Angus breed will be
Harold Etling, who
owned Wayne Knolls
Farm, Marshallville,
Ohio; Marion Foote,
Angus breeder and
promoter from Tacoma,
Wash.; and Dr. Horst
Leipold, genetic patho
logist and professor of
veterinary medical
genetics, Kansas State
University, Manhattan.

their family, will
receive a framed Angus
Heritage Foundation
certificate and their
name will be engraved
on a permanent Herit
age Foundation plaque
in the American Angus
Association headquar
ters in St Joseph, Mo.
A panel of noted
Angus breeders, agri
cultural journalists and
industry leaders makes
the final selection. The
judges are appointed by
the board of directors of
the American Angus
Association. Photos and
brief biographies of all
the inductees, including
the 1995 group, will be
printed in a new Angus
Heritage Foundation
booklet. It will be avail
able at the 1995 annual
meeting and copies may
be obtained by contact

There were 21 steers shown at
the show.
Shawn Meyers of Greencastle,
a first year member, took the top
honors of grand champion with
his 1.220-pound Angus-Limousin
cross. Justin Conner took the re
serve champion with his
I,2SS-pound steer. Other placings
are listed below.
Lyle Reed was the auctioneer
for the evening sale. The grand
champion sold for $4.10 per
pound. It was bought by Moss’s
Steak and Seahouse. The reserve
champion sold for $1.90 per
pound and was bought by Four
Season’s Crop Care of Chambers
burg. The rest of the steers sold
from $1.65 to .87 per pound. The
average price was $1.29 per pound
and the average weight was 1,213
pounds.
