Grain Market
ST. JOSEPH, MO
OCTOBER 11, 1995
Grain and aoybean bida traded higher in
icaciion to thia mornings USDA Crop Pro
motion and Supply and Demand reports.
Wheat steady to 2 cents higher except St
Louis 6 to 8 cents lower. Com 1 to 6 cents
higher. Sorghum 8 to 11 cents higher. Soy
beans 6 to 14 cents higher. Tight world
wheat stocks and crop concerns due to dry
conditions in wheat growing areas, sup
ported wheat bids. Gains were limited in
wheat as export demand has slowed con
siderably this week. Com and soybean bids
extended yesterday's gains on as USDA
estimated com production at 7.54 billion
bushels, down 25 percent from the record
high 1994 production of 10.1 billion
bushels and 4 percent below the September
I estimate. Reported yields of newly
harvested com have been reported in poor
condition with disease noted and too much
moisture. Drier conditions and warmer
temperatures ate what is needed. Soybean
Production was forecast at 2.19 billion
bushels as of October 1, down 4 percent
from the September 1 forecast and 13 per
cent below 1994. The estimate for 1995/96
ending slocks were 220 million bushels,
down from the 330 million estimated in
September.
