The September meeting of
Series County Society of Farm
Women Group 1 was held at the
Boyertown home of President
Evelyn Heacock who presided at
the meeting. Members answered
the roll call by recalling interest
ing events in tlwir lives during the
past summer.
Plans were made by members
to attend the annual convention of
the Series County Society of Farm
Women to be held on October 7,
at the Berks County Agricultural
Center.

Randy VanFfeet, a teacher in
the Exeter Township School Dis-
trict, Berks County, spoke and
gave a slide presentation of his
sugar maple syrup operation. He
now taps 250 sugar maple trees
each year and has the only com
mercial sugar house in this area in
which he processes the syrup.
The next meeting will be
“Ladies’ Night Out” and will be a
dinner meeting to be held at the
Covered Bridge Hotel, Oley, on
October 11, at 6:30 p.m.

The September meeting of
York County Group 26 met at the
Jolly Coppersmith Restaurant
with 13 members present.
Marylou Hartland, from Fair
view Nursing Home, was guest
speaker.
For the October meeting the
group will meet at the home of
Ruth Traver for lunch and then
travel to Harrisburg for a tour of
the Harrisburg Post Office.
