Germ Warfare
This week begins with Child Health Day. on October 2
(always the first Monday of October), and ends with
the Full Hunter’s Moon on October Bth. Consider
asking your public schools or Parent Teacher
Association to wage a little germ warfare to reduce the
number of contagious colds. Organize a squad of volun
teers to disinfect the desktops and work areas in your
child's classroom once or twice a week. Just a quart of
water wjth 1/4 cup of chlorine bleach in it makes a big
difference. Students can be encouraged to wash their
hands often, with soap, and sr

Garlic Kale
1 pound kale
4 slices bacon
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
salt and pepper to taste
Boil the washed kale in
water to cover for 15
minutes. Drain and
keep warm. Fry bacon arid
chop. Using the bacon fat,
saute the onion and gar
he. Add the kale and
stir to heat through.
