Laurie Wildman Exposition Oct. 4-9 (Continued from Pas* BIS) Along with a huge array of livestock, the Exposition will include commercial and educa tional exhibits, top quality enter tainment, and a tantalizing assort ment of foods prepared by various Pennsylvania commodity groups. Daily Thursday through Sunday—Being featured daily at the Keystone International Live stock Exposition are the Stock man’s Trade Show, the Barnyard where young and old alike may touch, pet, and feed the animals. Educational Exhibits, Agricultural Commodity food booths, and strolling entertainers, Mo Vint, a multi-versatile harmonica player and singer. Another daily attrac tion is the “Animals of Distinc tion” Show featuring trained ani mals. The animals will be per forming several shows each day. Thursday, October S-Media Day—The Keystone International Livestock Exposition officially begins at 8:00 A.M. with the Appaloosa Horse Show. The Livestock Person of the Year and Outstanding FFA and Livestock Member will also be recognized. Breeding sheep judging will begin at 8:00 A.M. Friday, October 6-Stockman's Day—The Draft Horse Halter Show begins at 8:00 A.M. along with the breeding swine at 9:00 featuring various breeds. Wool Judging begins at 10:00 A.M. fol lowed by Shropshire Breeding Sheep at 11:00 A.M. Simmental Cattle Futurity is featured as 12:30 P.M. Throughout the afternoon, various classes will be conducted including cattle and sheep. At 6:00 P.M. the Keystone Classic Sale will take place, which will be an all breeds sale. Sponsoring the “Challenge of the Breeds Show” at 7:00 P.M. is Glatfelter Insur ance Group of York, PA. This is horsemanship at its best as six breeds; the Appaloosa, the Ara bian, the Paint, Half-Aiabian, Morgan, Palomino, Pinto, Perche ron, Saddlebred and the Quarter Horse, go against each other in an evening of fun and mastery. The animals, two from each breed, will be chosen by their respective breed associations. In order to compete, the horses must be own ed by a Pennsylvania resident. Also included will be Draft Horse Registered Mares/Stallions and 4-Horse Classes. An Admission of $5.00 will be charged for the Challenge. Saturday, October 7-Kid’s Day—A busy day begins with the Draft Horse Halter Youth Classes at 8:00 A.M. The Intercollegiate and Junior Livestock Judging The male FFA Youth Award recipient is Thomas Ackley, son of Mr. Michael Ackley of R.R. 3. Box 351, Westfield, PA. Laurie Wildman is the female recipient of the FFA Award. Jenny is 18 years old and the daughter of Mr. Edward T. Wildman of R.R. 1, Box 292, Westfield, PA. She has been an FFA member since 1991 at the Cowanesque Valley High School. She has served as the President, Vice President of the FFA. Her project has been sheep production. Laurie will be pursuing an agricultural education with the goal of becoming an agri culture teacher. While in high school, Laurie was active in the Leo Club, Student Council, Farm Power Mechanics. SADD, and various Rabbit Breeden Associa tions. She also served as the Potter/Tioga Maple Producers Festival Queen. Her advisors are Martin Heyler and Clair Zerby. The male 4-H winner is Michael Kowalewsld, son of Mr. & Mrs. John Kowalewski, Sr. of 807 Main St, Forest City, PA. Michael is 17 yean of age and a 4-H member for nine yean. Hunter Hack - In addition to performing on the rail, the horse will be asked to take two jumps. D. Western Pleasure - In west ern gear, the horse will walk, jog, and lope in both directions. E. Western Riding - The horse performs a prescribed course which demonstrates the perfor mance of a well-mannered ranch horse. F. Barrel Racing - A timed event in the clover-leaf pattern is performed by the horse. The horses will be judged at each of these events on a point system by a qualified judge. The lion. During her five years of involvement in 4-H, her many projects included swine, beef, goats, horse, rabbit, dog. foods, horticulture and Vet Science. Offices she has held include Presi dent, Secretary, Treasurer, Jr. President, Recording Secretary and Jr. Song Leader. Her plans for the future include a college educa tion majoring in Veterinary Medi cine, then on to a Veterinary College. These very deserving young people will be recognized at the Keystone International Livestock Show Opening Ceremony at the Small Arena of the Farm Show Complex on Thursday, October S, 1995 at 4:00 P.M.
