AlMflMtoiP 2y*ttw 1 Pa. DHIA members are asking more and more, about when we are going to incorporate performance economics into the DHIA reports. Since the introduction of the new Herd Summary I report, we are prepared to give our members substantial performance analysis of various groups in the herd, if their feed cost and amounts are properly reported. Dr. Steve Ford and I are work ing on a form that members can calculate their feed cost, and if they desire can incorporate non feed items such as BST and other farm operating cost Our DHIA technicians can then record the feed amounts, cost per hundred, dry matter, energy, and protein levels on test day. Non feed items would be reports on a pounds per day basis, cost per 100 pounds, and dry matter (D.M.) at 100 percent dry. If the amounts and cost are reported properly, the following summary information is possible: 1. Income over feed cost on each cow test day. 2. Average Income over cost for entire milking used test day. 3. 365 Day Rolling Average income over cost *.669 e Lock ln 6DARANTEED! Income over cost by groups. If you do not group your cows, you can create groups. Example (cows on BST). You can compare the profitability of BST treated cows to non-treated cows. 8. On the back of Herd Sum mary I on the lower left hand cor ner, we project nine months based on your herd information and lut ing your gross milk sales. 9. Individual cow total proGt at end of lactation. Part (just feed cost) or all (on total operating cost) of the farm operating cost can be repotted in the new feed program. Up to 13 feeds or non-feed items can be reported, and assigned to some or all groups of cows in the herd. If a member is interested in reporting these items properly, the individual and/or group economic performance can be easily eva luated at a gland. For more infor mation contact the Pa.
