Appalachian Fair Draws 88 Angus Entries
In the heifer competition. Hale
O Farms Inc., took both the grand
and reserve grand champion posi
tions. Hale O Hi Tibbie 415, a
November 1993 daughter of R&J
Majestic 1121 took the grand
award after being named the senior
champion. The senior heifer calf
champion, Hale O Ruthella 461,
was the reserve winner. The Sep
tember 1994 heifer is sired by
G D A R Oscar 711.
Justafew Bonnie Lass 91 and
her March 1995 hsifer calf were
the grand champion cow-calf pair.
Ann Ogle, iMax Meadows, Va.,
owns the January 1993 daughter of
TC Dividend 963.
Reserve grand honors in the
cow-calf division were awarded to
Hale O Farms Inc. Hale O A H
Jeany and her March 1995 bull calf
were the winning pair. The cow is a
May 1992 daughter of Da Es Ro
Casey 629.
I Other division winners in the
bull show include Unaka Blacks
tone 686, the reserve senior
champion. He is owned by Everett
Freshour, Newport, Tenn. Reserve
junior champion honors went to
Hale O Farms Inc., on Hale O Pro
fit Builder. No entries were shown
in the intermediate division.
In the senior bull calf division,
G V F Resolution 4128 took
champion honors for Diane Sex-
Farm Credit Holds
Stockholder Meetings
LEWISBURG (Union Co.) —Northeastern
Farm Credit, ACA reported an attendance of
200 guests and stockholders at its Southern
Tier annual sectional stockholder meeting at
the Sun Area Tech in New Berlin on Sept 7.
Member/customers attended from the Wil
liamsport, Bloomsburg, Lewistown, and
Lewisburg Branch Office service territories.
A buffet dinner was provided, and more than
25 door prizes were received. The grand
prize, a 6-Qt. White Mountain Electric Ice
Cream Maker, was won by Mr. and Mrs. Cur
tis S. Dietz of Mt. Pleasant Mills.
A record 180 members attended the North
ern Tier meeting held at the Tioga County
Fairgrounds, Whitneyville. Members in
attendance represented the Wellsboro/
Coudersport division, Towanda branch, and
Tunkhannock branch. Winners of the grand
prize electric ice cream maker were Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Naylor of Facloryville.
Robert T. Reich, president and CEO of
Northeastern Farm Credit, in his speech to the
otockholdcrs slated that American agriculture
will continue to provide opportunities for
farmers.
“The diversification of product lines, size
of farms, and adoption of technology will play
a major role in who will farm in the future.
What the farm community of the next genera
tion or two will look like is not ours to deter
mine. Economics and government policy will
determine that. Farm Credit will do every
thing we can to foster the improvement of
income and well-being of the farmers we
serve.”
Board Chairman Robert H. Whipple of
Towanda presented the board’s report to
stockholders. Commenting on the recent con
solidation of the Farm Credit Bank of Balti
more and the Farm Credit Bank of Columbia
to form AgFirsl Farm Credit, Whipple said.
“This consolidation provides many exciting
benefits including $1 million in additional
income in 1995, new loan products, AgriLine
check services and quality support services.”
In his statement to stockholders, Chairman
Whipple reported the construction of two new
branch office facilities at Montoursville Fair
field Business Park (a move from their current
Lycoming Creek Rd. location) and just off Rt.
322 near the Lewistown Holiday Inn (a move
from downtown Lewistown).
