Dairy exhibitors at the Huntingdon County Fair persever ed in spite of the August heat with a little help from nearby fans, both those seated in the bleachers watching the show, and those swirling above the showring. Held at the Huntingdon County Fair grounds, the open show was held on Tuesday of fair week, the day after the 4-H and FFA dairy show. The heat of the day caught several cows panting and others wanting to nap instpad of walk the show ring. In the open Holstein show, judge Dale Olvcr of Penn State called the decision between Globe Run’s 4-year-old and Spccrelle Farm’s aged cow a close call. In the end, Globe-Run Jethro Violet took the grand champion rosette home while Naomi J.H. Speer’s My-Favorite Vanguard Kandy took reserve champion honors. Charann Foster’s summer year ling, Globe Run BJ Bon Bon, earned the junior champion posi tion and Tara Kocher’s fall calf, Walnut-Hills Vintage Charity, look the reserve honors. Patty McMurray of Eighty Four served as the color breed judge. Snider Homestead swept all champion honors in the Guernsey show. Sniders Fayette Brett, a 4-year-old, edged out a Snider Homestead five-year-old for the grand champion spot. A Snider Homestead spring calf and sum mer yearling look junior and re serve junior champion honors re spectively. The Ayrshire show saw Dan Varner’s Senior 3-year-old the grand champion position while a junior 2-ycar-old owned by Alan Roger Brant took reserve grand champion. Junior champion went to John Rodger’s fall yearling while Alan Roger Brant took re serve junior champion with his winter calf. Two senior 2-year-olds com peted for grand champion honors m the Brown Swiss show. Brandy Homing’s Towpath Elation Pepsi edged out another heifer owned by lan Hayden. Horning also look junior champion with her summer yearling. Clinton Staley earned re serve junior champion with his winter yearling. In the Jersey show, Kcndy Ga ble’s 5-ycar-old earned her the grand champion ribbon while EDN-RRU Jerseys entered the winning reserve grand champion, a cow in the six-years and over class. Crystal Staley showed the junior champion, a spring year ling, while EDN-RU Jerseys showed the winning reserve junior champion. As owner and breeder, Matthew Goshorn showed his senior 2-ycar-old to take grand champion honors. Jason Heeler took reserve grand champion honors with his dry cow.
