MEYERSDALE (Somerset
Co.)—The grand champion mark
et lamb of Heidi Svonavec, IS,
Rockwood was sold for a record
breaking $19.50 a pound at the
4-H and FFA Junior Livestock
Sale which puntuated the end Of
the 1995 Somerset County Agri
cultural Fair. The lamb brought
ititino, California, who is repre
sented by Attomay Wilbert Beachy Ilf, Somerset, right. The
steer brought $9,637.50 at the Somerset Junior Livestock
Sale.

The 119-pound Suffolk was
purchased by the Animal Medical
Center of Somerset County, Inc.
“I was overwhelmed” said Svo
navec. I didn’t know whether to
laugh or cry.” She held the previ
ous record for a champion lamb,
which brought $l3 a pound in
1991. Her parents are David and
Betty Lou Svonavec.

Record At Somerset Junior Livestock Sale
The reserve grand champion
lamb of Chris Shultz, 11, Rock
wood, brought $5.50 per pound.
Animal Medical Center of Som
erset County, Inc. was again the
buyer of the 121-pound Suffolk
for a total of $665.50.
The home grown champion,
owned by Kami Hillegass, Fair
hope, brought $1,143 or $9 per
pound from Bedford Ford.
The reserve home grown
champion of Amy Schmuck,
Rockwood, was purchased for
$773.50, or $6.50 a pound by the
Animal Medical Center of Som
erset County, Inc.
Ninety-eight lambs were sold
for an average of $1.73 a pound.
Angela Uvengood’s 1,285-
pound grand champion market
steer was bought by Attorney Wil
bert Beachy 111 in behalf of Nick
Infantino, Calif., owner of wine
vineyards in the Napa Valley, for
$9,637.50, or $7.50 a pound.
Amanda Darr’s 1,260-pound
reserve grand champion steer was
purchased at $5,040 or $4 a pound
by Boss’s Steak and Sea House.
Somerset. Darr is from Boswell.
Brad Fisher. Boswell had the
county bred champion steer. It
weighed 1,190 pounds and
