She’s A ‘Doll’ For Winning Allentown Dairy Show

Adam Vance, exhibitor, and assis
tant Lance Greenawalt call her
“Doll,” and what a doll she is. Not
only did the 3-year-old Holstein
win grand champion female at the
Allentown Dairy Show on Wed
nesday, but she was grand champ
ion at several shows already,
including the Kimberton, Goshen,
and Bucks County fairs.
Greenawalt refers to the champ
ion cow’s breedbook name, Ped
cote Leadman Doll-ET, bred by
William Pettit, Vincentown, NJ.
The cow’s sire is Rothrock Tradi
tion Leadman and dam is Pedcote
Black Donut. The 3-year-old is
projected at 22,000+ pounds, said
Greenawalt, herdsman for Dela
ware Valley College, exhibitor of
the champion cow. At the halter
was Vance, a senior at the college.
Greenawalt said that breeding is
number one in achieving a champ
ion, with nutrition a big factor. He
said that they are always working
toward championship goals for the
animals they exhibit. The college
will also be showing this year at
the Pennsylvania All American
Show at the end of the month and
the state Farm Show next January.
Champion bull at the fair was a
5-month-old Jersey, exhibited by
Mildred Seeds, Downingtown.
Seeds showed Top-O-Hill Imper
ial Prince.
Seeds said this is the first time
she has shown an animal that
young to a bull championship at
the Allentown Fair.
In all, there were a total of 130
animals at the dairy show. Follow
