ents, including grant amounts and
a brief description of the proposed
projects.
Direct Grants
• Beaver Blackhawk FFA,
Beaver Falls, $2,475, to purchase
equipment to propagate plants for
hydroponics, greenhouse and sci
entific research.
• Beaver Southwest Region
4-H Program Development Com
mittee, Beaver, $2,500, to attend a
4-H Camp focusing on food sci
ence and nutrition issues.
• Blair Bellwood-Antis FFA
Chapter, Bellwood, $2,500 to as
sist with production costs of the
1995 Western PA FFA Leadership
Conference.
• Blair Pennsylvania Council
of Cooperatives, Altoona, $2,500,
to provide partial scholarships for
youth to attend the council’s Sum
mer Youth Institute at Shippens
burg University.
• Bucks—Penn State Coopera
tive Extension, Doylestown,
$2,500, for community gardening
and small animal programming at
a donated farm site for urban and
at-risk youth in Bucks County.
• Chester Twin Valley FFA,
Elverson, $2,500, for the second
plase of the Food for America
grant.
• Cumberland Cumberland
County 4-H Development Fund,
Carlisle, $2,500, to provide partial
scholarships for youth to attend
the 1995 Agricultural Sciences
Camp.
• Dauphin Pennsylvania
Family Farm Foundation, Harris
burg, $2,500, to provide expenses
for youths enrolled in the founda-

son. The top finishers in each divi
sion won trophies sponsored by
Integra Bank.
The judge for the junior dairy
show was Mike Weimer of Em
lenton.
All Warren County 4-H dairy
club members participated in a
dairy fitting contest. Members
were given one hour to clip, brush,
and groom their animal.
Seniors (ages 15-18) had to clip
the animal’s entire body; inter
mediate (ages 12-14), had to clip
the entire rear of the animal; and
juniors (ages 8-11), were required
to clip the tail and tailhead of the
animal.
The first place finisher in the
senior group was Candace Hitch
cock of Lander. Also winning
senior fitting awards were Aman
da Hitchcock and Carrie Swanson.
The top winner in intermediate
age group was Kristen Hitchcock
of Lander. Other intermediate fit
ting winners were Kristen Burch,
Chris Vanco, and Rebecca Grub
er.
The first place junior winner
* was Kimberly Kalika of Corry.
The other junior fitting winners
were Cody Hitchcock, Kelsi Wil
cox, Terry Arison, and Crystal
Gruber.
All of the winners received a
master fitting rosette and first
place finishes received trophies.
The judge was Gary Miller of
Cambridge Springs.
