Sherman Allen, Auctioneer and Associates in Conneaut Lake, Pa. were among the auctioneers from throughout the United States and Canada who attended the re cent 1995 National Auctioneers (NAA) National Convention. NAA conducted 33 workshops. Some of the subjects covered at this year’s convention included conducting real estate, personal property, commercial/heavy equipment, and agribusiness auc tions. The increasing complexity of today’s business world makes education programs like these in dispensable. In addition to NAA workshops, seminars were conducted by the Auction Marketing Institute, Na tional Auctioneers Foundation, Nadonal Auctioneers Association Auxiliary, and various vendors. The 1994 Men’s and Women’s Division International Auctioneer Champions were selected during the convention, and three mem bers were recognized for their contribution of their profession by their induction into the NAA Hall of Fame. Ben Standard, responsible for Dekalb’s Foundation Farm train ing programs, accepted the 1995 National Exemplary Business In volvement Award for the com pany in Washington, D.C. The award was presented by the Na tional Association of State Coun cils on Vocational Education at its national convention. Dekalb Swine Breeders’ presi dent Roy Poage said the company was honored to receive this award over other state winners.
