The dairy of Distinction farm winners assembled In the special events building at Ag Progress Days for a social meeting and to view the photographs of their farms presented by Lancaster Farming. Charles Brosius, Pennsylvania secretary of agriculture spoke at the meeting and brought greetings from Gov. Tom Ridge. Brosius said appearance indicates success and complimented the winners on their effort sto help people understand what agriculture is all about by making their farms look nice. Gov. Ridge’s proclamation designated the week of Dairy Of Distinction Farm Winners Meet At Ag Progress Days August 13 to 19 as Dairy of Distinction week. The day proved a success for the growers association, because visi tors “had something very good to eat that’s good for them, and it was grown in Pennsylvania.’’ said Grab. There were some special chal lenges to the growers association this year, including deciding on the supplies needed for the kickoff event. “When it came to ordering and buying, it was a stab in the dark, because you have no idea what to do,’’ said Grab. In all, the stand helped about 500 customers on Tuesday, with more stopping by Wednesday and Thursday.
