Cooler weather and fickle skies
didn't dampen the spirits of those
attending die fifth annual Farm-
City Day in Tioga County this
year. Coordinated by a committee
dedicated to educating the public
about the family farm, how socie
ty depends on farming, and how
many people are affected by the
everyday decisions, products, and
work of the farmer. Farm-City
Day is hosted by a family whose
farm can best reflect the commit
tee’s ideals.
Nestled in the rolling foothills
of the Appalachian Mountains,
Eastmont Farms, owned by Alfred
and Maxine Wilcox and operated
by their son and daughter-in-law.
Sam and Christine Wilcox, served
as the host site this year.' Sam and
Christine’s daughters, Samantha
and Christie, are the fourth gen
eration of Wilcoxs to live and
work on the farm.
Eastmont (short for east and
mountain) Farms is a combination
of two farms totaling 280 acres,
