Gable Shows Supreme

MARTINSBUR3 (Blair
Co.) —“We have some good dairy
cattle shows in Maryland,” said
type judge, Norman Hill, of
Woodbine, Maryland, as he stud
ied his six choices fo: the overall
supreme champion at the annual
Morrison’s Cove Dairy Show.
“But the cattle here in Pennsylva
nia are outstanding.”
Narrowing the selection from
the breed champions being exhi
bited, Hill rated the Holstein,
Guernsey and Milking Shorthorn
as the top three.
His top choice, the Guernsey, a
four-year-old, Sniders Fayette
Brett, owned by Aaron Gable of
Sniders Homestead Farms in New
Enterprise.
Reserve Supreme went to the
Holstein, a five-year-old, owned
by Rebecca Kelly, Tyrone.
Gable received the annual John
Fisher award presented each year
at the Martinsbnrg show by the Ida
Mohr family.
Premier exhibitor went to
Globe Run Farms.
All top champions were chosen
on Friday following the Open
Holstein Dairy Show.
Rebecca Kelly took the champ
ion and junior champion awards in
the Holstein division while R.C.
Norris & Globe Run Farms had
the reserve honors.
Charann Foster of Globe Run
was the Junior champion while
Angela Frederick was reserve
junior champion.

FFA Competition At
Morrlon’s Cove
Kicks Off Dairy Show
The heat was on literally as
FFA members competed for vari
ous awards in the Morrison’s
Cove Dairy Show held the week
of July 31 through August 4.
“It was a hot week, hard on the
kids, the cattle, everybody,”
admitted Tom Ritchey who chairs
this annual event. “Otherwise, it
was a good show.”
Holsteins
Clinton Black took homo top
awards with an aged cow in the
Holstein division. Reserve honors
went to Brandy Homing with a
senior three year old.
Junior and Reserve Junior
Champions were Malt Kline, a
senior calf and Brandy Homing, a
spring yearling.
