Everyday Superstitions

Moon and the mind, is Sabbath to the Greeks. Some say
a Monday marriage bodes wealth, but it’s an unlucky
day to cross rivers. Tuesday is the Saxon day of Mars
and all things physical The Amish like it as a wedding
day. Wednesday, Mercury’s day, is dedicated to the
power of speech. Thursday goes to Jupiter and wisdom.
Venus takes Friday, named for Fnga, the Saxon god
dess of love. Laugh on Friday, weep on

Hasty Pudding
1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup cold water
1/2 taaapoon tall
2 cup boiling water
Mix cornmeal with
cold water. Add with
salt to boiling water.
Reduce heat and cook 10
to 15 minutes, stirring fre
uently. Serve with
cream and maple
sugar, brown sugar,
honey, or molasses.
Chill unused mush,
lice, dust slices with
lour, and brown in
