Dar-Dale Starbuck Alicia, a four-year-old Holstein, was named the Supreme Champion at the York County 4-H dairy roundup, held July 18 at the York Fairgrounds. Alicia is one of the several youth project Holsteins owned by exhibitor Daphne Doll, Glen Rock. The Holstein breed winner is currently milking about 80 pounds per day and has not yet been classified. Judge Steve Wil son, Maryland, especially praised her height and width of udder in announcing his selection. Named nis second choice for the supreme honor was the cham pion Brown Swiss, Lake Lane Pebbles, exhibited by Joshua Hushon, Delta. The senior three year-old is scored VG-87 with an EX-mammary and is projected to 18,500 milk. In the Holstein breed show, the reserve senior and grand cham pion honors went to senior 4-H member Brad Walker, Thomas ville, with his aged cow Sunny bend Odyssey Astro Sex. Junior champion breed honors were shar ed by Dixie Doll, Glen Rock, showing her spring yearling. Re serve junior champion title went to the winter yearling exhibited by Jacob Hushon, Delta. His brother Jason handled the champion for the 14-year-old, six-year 4-H ve teran, who was crutches-bound following a sports injury. Reserve champion Ayrshire was the junior-lhree-year-old ex hibited by Thomasville 4-H’er Katie Shoemaker, B.E.K.A. Hill Farm Anni Aerial. In the junior champion lineup, Stephanie Pom raning copped top honors with her first-place fall calf, over the re serve winner, the fall yearling ex hibited by Katie Shoemaker. Reserve champion Brown York 4-H show Guernsey honors went to the calves exhi bited by Bobbie Leiphart, left, grand champion, and Terri Johnson, reserve grand champion. York 4-H Dairy Show Names Supreme Champion Swiss was Brothers Three Perky, a ) V senior two-year-old exhibited by Jacob Hushon, Delta. In addition to his Brown Swiss senior and grand championship, Joshua Hu son took both junior class titles. Junior champion was his fall year ling, besting the spring yearling on size and scale. With no milking cows entered, Guernsey breed competition was limited to heifer classes. Junior and grand champion rosettes were won by Barbara Leiphart, York, with her winter calf Rutter Bros. Perfectos Wonder. Terri Johnson, York, claimed the reserve junior and grand champion honors with a paternal sister winter calf, Rutter Perfectors Lydia. Both are first lime 4-H roundup competitors. The Jersey breed show likewise included no milking animals, and brought rosette honors to two first-time 4-H exhibitors. Junior and grand champion was Queen- Acres Orion Shiela, a winter calf exhibited by Kristina McElwain, Stewartstown. Placing as reserve junior and grand champion was Fawn Grove 4-H rookie Barbara Richardson, exhibiting a spring calf. Milking Shorthorn entries were both from exhibitor Heather Growl, Airville. The 13-year-old, 5-year 4-H exhibitor earned cham pion honors with Spruce Hill RC Bubbles, a senior two-year-old. Heather’s spring yearling was named junior and reserve grand champion.
