Becksville Farm
Becksvllle Farm, located in Sinking Valley near Tyrone, is
owned In partnership by Jim and Joan Beck and their three
grown children Jim 111, Bruce, and Dayonne. The children all
have college degrees but came back to the farming opera
tion. The family farms 350 acres of corn and alfalfa to feed
their herd of 160 registered Holstelns. Herd average on 100
milk cows Is over 18,000 pounds of milk. They have three
silos, use TMR, and milk In a parlor. The farm has been In the
family since 1937, and the Becks say It takes dedication and
hard work to keep the farm going. But for them It is a family
affair.

Kerchen Hill Holstelns
Raymond and Nancy Seidel manage the Kerchen Hill Hols
telns Dairy of Distinction In Kutztown, Berks County. They
purchase feed tor the operation and maintain about 16 acres in
pasture. The Seidels maintain 38 milking and 30 young stock
of registered Holstelns on the dairy, with a latest DHIA average
of 20,000 pounds milk, 700 f, and 640 p. The cows are milked
from tlestall to pipeline. Hay, grain, and corn silage are the
primary feeds. The Seidels have been farming for a total of 43
years and have been at the Kutztown location for 19 years.
