Fair’s Talent Search Is On The Great Allentown Fair is looking for talent in everything from sittging to scarecrow mak ing. The annual contests for aspir ing entertainers and crafters require entry before the fair, sche duled Aug. 29-Sept 4. Three competitions at the fair’s Farmerama Theater test perform ing talent. On Thursday, Aug. 31, radio station WZZO sponsors its Ag, Environment Panel Topic Of Meeting EDGEWATER, Md.—'Agri culture and the Environment— Where Do We Go From Here?” That’s the title for a blue-ribbon panel discussion to be held as part of the 1995 annual meeting of the Maryland Grain Producers Association. The meeting will be held Thurs day, July 27, at the University of Maryland Wye Research and Edu cation Center, off Route SO just south of Queenstown. Panelists will be Jane Nashida, formerly with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and now secretary of the Department of the Environ ment in the Glendening Admi nistration; Delegate Marsha Perry from Maryland’s 33rd District; Maria Kelly, representing Mary land’s First District Congressman Wayne Gilchrest, an outspoken advocate of environmental protec tion; and Maryland Ag Secretary Lewis Riley. The panel discussion will come about midway in a program slateo to get under way at 1 p.m. and to conclude at 4 p.m. with MGPA’s traditional crab feast and chicken barbecue. The featured speaker of the afternoon will be Dr. Marshal D. McGlamery, professor and exten sion weed specialist at the Univer sity of Illinois and one of the nation’s foremost weed control scientists.
